The Bread is about the Grain!
Local Bread Builds Community.
In this fast-paced world where quantity overwhelms quality, we want to be your village baker. We invite you to know where your bread comes from and learn about how and why we bake slow with intention.
By supporting our small bakery you give us a chance to develop the finest breads using the freshest local ingredients, and you in turn support a local reviving grain culture. Instead of flour from large mills and farms thousands of miles away, We all benefit from a reduced carbon footprint by using fresh-milled local grains.
Local Grains. Freshly Milled.
Hand Crafted. Naturally Leavened.
Green Lion Breads is a not-for-profit micro-bakery dedicated to sourcing local and regional whole grains, including heritage and ancient grains that are organically grown. Our naturally leavened breads are handcrafted with stone ground flours — that we mill ourselves — resulting in the freshest, full-flavored, nutrient dense loaves for your table.

Baked Goods That Do Good.
Green Lion Breads, together with Partners Creating Community, maintains a supported employment project that affords contributors with intellectual and developmental differences a creative and dynamic work environment, where they assist with delivery, milling, baking, packaging, delivery, sales and inventory management. We all experience the satisfaction of doing intentional, meaningful work and mastering a craft together.
